Trust is the KEY

In 5...4...3...2.. I know you seen somehow the world will change for me and be so wonderful.*bell noises*  Its me ya girl back at it again with the class vloggs. We been learning about building trust, and toxic, un toxic relationships.

Fist we started with our questions of the day which was how do you define the word trust? who/what do you trust? and on a scale from 1-10, how important is trust in a relationship and why? When we circled up to answer these questions most of us said its having someone who you can go to and be vulnerable with. As we continued to answer the questions they said trust is one of the important aspect of a relationship and without it a relationship won't work.

Andriod ( how to lose/break trust ) VS. iphone (how to build trust)... questionable metaphore but ya know we are high schoolers so......

The next activity was to identify what builds trust and what breaks trust. When we presented our posters (above) we said that to build trust is to have communication, respect, honesty, and to be supportive. To break trust is to lie, cheat, and being unreliable. The discussions we had after our presentations were very helpful to everyone because we all learned something from each other and how we all deal with these situations that we have had, which leads to the next activity.

In the last activity it really pressured them to open up with there class mates. The activity was to anonymously write about a relationship were they have lost trust and a different class mate would read it out loud. This part of the lesson was extremely difficult emotionally. The stories that they had in them for a very long time and finally had the chance to let it out and express there emotions. At the end i think that having these kinds of talks really brings us together as a class and they really open your eyes to how similar we all are, we all bring dark stories to this room but we find unity and love within each other.

Also castro went to wrestling senior night and swimming senior night where she walked with francis to the podium to present her for her senior night awards! How Cute!

Until next time,

Whatz them YESS Values N Goals !?

Hey its ya girl Shalayah AGAIN, mentor leader from 7th period.

We started the week with talking about our values  and different value systems that guide our behaviors and decisions. We did a packet where people chose which values are the most important and least important in their lives.
We also talked about new year resolutions and long term goals and we wrote down our sphere of influence.

We got into the topic about relationships - We are officially on Unit 2!!! We got into groups and talked about healthy relationships, and unhealthy relationships. We then discussed our sphere of influence, who is in our lives that we are around every day and who we care about, also who influences us. We played a line game to get our brains going when we were being sleepy at the end of the day too!

Here are some pics of us ( my class) presenting and being awesome! The talk about introducing relationships was fun, we talked about romantic relationships, relationships with friends, family, school staff, co workers, and other people in our lives. We had fun doing our diagrams together, you could really tell who had been hurt in their past based on how quick they were to answer with not so positive comments about relationship experiences.

WE OUT HERE BEING ACTIVISTS in YESS!!!

Ayeee welcome back to another week with me the period 7 mentor leader Shalayah girl. Last week we finished our PSA posters about a race term everyone chose. As everyone finished up the posters and the 2 paragraph reflection everyone prepared to present. During the presentations we had some great special guest that watched everyone work their magic. Ive noticed during the presentations a lot of people chose police brutality and had a story or past experience relating to it.

I feel like the presentations went very well and everyone participated like they were suppose to and the courage to come out of their shells and share personal experiences, which as i personally know is hard to do. I feel like after the race unit everyone learned a lot and wanted to help make changes to the world after. Im glad that this lesson exist and will hopefully make improvements over some things i believe should've been added to the lesson and can teach more people about racism in the world going on around them.

Peace out and remember to keep the peace and love to avoid this!!

PSA...we are still doing this race thang!

heyy, back with another blog with the mentor from period seven  about continuing the great race unit. We were given a project to work on PSA posters. We went over and identified what a PSA means and the requirements for our posters were to get creative and choose a term we've learned about in the race unit. So, say if a person chose stereotype then you'd draw a picture displaying what that is or how it works like an example and then choose a fact about stereotypes from the internet or from your own knowing. The PSA poster requirments is that you must have a picture, fact and discription of your term. The picture must have color added. The PSA posters were part 1 of the racism unit.

Then continuing the next week we moved on to PSA project part 2 so everyone can put in equal effort. In PSA part 2 we are suppose to write 2 paragraphs- 5 sentences each and use 3 words for our list of race terms. You're suppose to describe what message your PSA is conveying and why the issue matters to you. More requirements include giving one example of a real current 2018 hate crime that has happened related to your topic, how you feel about the event and how it could have been prevented. Then you're suppose to describe your own experiences with racism and how it has or has not affected/shaped you. Closing out this part if the unit we have to describe a change we would like to see in the world related to your topic.

Until next week we'll catch ya later gaters.
